I'm getting the idea that it may be absolutely necessary given what I have
heard thus far. I dont have the DSP module in it, but I may eventually
order one. I have the UT-106 in my R75 and I use it all the time.

I know the discone wont be a good antenna for weather sat images. I

I'd make a discone as a multi purpose hf antenna.

HF Discones are HUGE.- have you looked at the math?
