Just received 2 of these units from
Andy in Wales.
I have to admit: I am totally rethinking
antenna solutions for townhouse/apartment living.
This unit is very impressive. Similar in
design to the true wellbrook loops, the
ALA100 allows the end-user to assemble their
own flexible wire loop. It can, quite literally
be tacked to the side of a wood frame house,
taped to the wall of your apartment or pinned
to the perimeter of your balcony or lanai (if
you have one.
In a couple of mornings (on the West Coast)
I have had fairly good reception from
Australia and Tahiti on medium-wave (612 and 738khz)
and the conditions are totally sub-par at the
moment. The ALA100's performance seems to
be fairly consistent from 100khz (or lower)
to beyond 30Mhz.
My 5-foot coupled and matched frame loop now stands
idle... more reviews to follow
