Every once in a while I think about getting an antenna for MW DXing.
I've read that the Kiwa Loop is fantastic, but because MW isn't my
primary interest, I can't see paying the hefty price for a Kiwa.

Not quite as expensive is the Quantum QX and QX Pro loops. I've heard
that these are good, but how good are they, really? How would they
compare to the Kiwa loop?

I currently own both the the KIWA and Quantum QX Pro. My experience using
these antennas parallels Les Locklear's experience but there are some
differences that, in my opinion, make the QX Pro slightly better than the
KIWA. I find that the QX Pro doesn't overload on strong local MW signals
whereas my KIWA would often create a harmonic or mixing product on a
strong local signal. The QX Pro has some useful functions that the KIWA
doesn't have such a q-spoil control and attachment site for a longwire
antenna that allows full utilization of all the Pro's controls. This
makes a world of difference since I like to try phasing signals to see if
that gets me the best possible reception.

Your mileage may vary when pitting these 2 antennas against each other.
They are both excellent antennas but if cost is a factor then go with the
QX Pro.
