Absolutely... we know this but what sort of

restraints are there on the average "Jo

Shopper" from purchasing a gun from one of

these places?

States enact their own laws regarding this. There are federal (national)
laws that apply, such as no felon may be in possession of a firearm. In
Florida, there is a wait period..I think it's two days, not sure, as I
haven't purchased a gun in many, many years. The wait period is
designed as and frequently referred to as a "cooling off" period so
someone who is ****ed right off cant simply walk in and buy a gun and
walk out and go kill someone with it. Of course, this is where arguments
of how effective the gun laws are come in to play, as there is no
waiting period for a shotgun or rifle, only handguns.

There must be some kind of control surely?

If that's what you want to call it. Besides, those who commit crimes
with guns in the US are usually already criminals for other reasons.
