Subject: Recapping a HQ129-X
I just received an old Hammerlund HQ-129-X which was given to me.
I am wondering what is exactly involved in recapping this old radio.
I have never done for an entire radio before, so please be detailed in the
type of capacitors I should use for replacement, where to find them,
etc. Plus any tips.
Thanks, Bill

You may wish to "Bookmark" (Netscape) or "Add to Favorites" (Explorer) some
of these web sites with your web browser.
FIRST, start with the manual, which is available on BAMA (you will need DJVU
reader)
ftp://bama.edebris.com/bama/hammarlu...hq129xpdf.djvu
HQ-129-X Spec Sheets (2 pages - takes a bit of time to load)
The schematic on the second page is actually too small for troubleshooting

IF you are missing knobs, I believe that Leeds Electronics (NYC) actually
has the crank tuning knob for the HQ-129-X (here is photo)

SECOND, take an inventory of the capacitors in your radio (schematic and
inspection).
THIRD, read the various re-capping web sites and references (below)
FOURTH, come back and ask questions before proceeding!
