I just bought the miracle whip for use with my new Yaesu FT-817. It
is a transceiver, of course, but I like having the ability to transmit
as I'm also a licensed ham.
Thanks for the comments, folks!

I bought one this summer for use with my R-75 & 756Pro while camping, in
situations when I don't want to run a randomwire through the trees or around
the site.
The antenna works as advertised, and provides better signals off a whip
antenna than I ever thought possible. During my tests, it was essentially
equal to a 75-ft. randomwire I compared it to, at least on shortwave.
Mediumwave reception, expectedly, was only fair for such a relatively short
antenna at those frequencies.
I also tried the Miracle Whip with a Degen DE1103, and the signals were far
better than with the Degen's built-in whip antenna (again, except MW).
The construction is very nice, and this is a well-built product. The
portability factor and quick deployment is a primary reason for buying the
Miracle Whip. When you consider the small "foot print" of the antenna, it is
a good value. However, if you have room for a passive randomwire you will do
just as well for a fraction of the cost.

Anyone use this for SW listening. Would really love to hear some
feedback on it.
Thanks.
