No one is trying to shove the "teaching" of religion in public
schools. They simply wish to point out to students the "possible"
alternative points of view.
The Left-wing is absolutely frightened to the core that this would
undermine their Socialist and
ultimately Communist agenda. And you know what? It most certainly
will!
Really? Then scientists should be allowed in your church to teach alternate
theories about religion. Correct? The 'other points of view' are religious
in nature - not science!
BTW, When did science get associated with 'left-wing' and 'socialist'
agenda? Are scientists now considered evil by conservatives? Wow!
Science, by definition, is apolitical however any of the 'political
machines' will use it (or select portions of it or just plain
junk-science) to further their cause when necessary. I am pretty sure
some conservatives feel scientists are evil. It is common for folks
of strong religious belief (no specific denominations mentioned) to
presume scientists to be lacking in religious faith though many of
them (scientists) have said that as a result of their studies they
find their faith in 'a creator' to be strengthened.
I endorse teaching our children about science, religion, history, the
arts and especially critical thinking. Religion will not suffer,
people will still find faith and some will still be agnostics as has
been the case over the history of mankind. Also, science will not
suffer and we will continue to lead better lives as a result of it.
Just my opinion - your mileage will undoubtedly vary.
