Oh, I assure you reel to reel is really really really really dead. An
exception would be archive work. Even the cops have solid state
recorders for their repeater traffic.
Collectors will collect just about anything. That doesn't mean what
they collect is useful. I've got electronics gear that hasn't seen
power in probably a decade, but I keep it for my collection. Dumb stuff
like a real telco blue box, bridge impedance meters, and other useless
stuff. I'd never advise anyone to collect what I collect.
