But my wife wants a good TV channel radio...hopefully both VHF and
UHF channel audio

will that Kaito do the job?

Thanks in advance for your time....

NO, the Kaito does NOT receive TV channel sound. It is very unlikely
that you will find a portable radio that picks up AM/FM/SW and the TV
bands. There are AM/FM portables that include the VHF TV band, such as
the CC Radio.

ok guys . thanks for the info for sure.

..I'll almost forget the TV band requirement and ....well.... I ordered
the KA1102 right after I posted the question anyway...

This will be my first venture into SW and SSB etc in 52 years
....since I was a tyke and my dad put his tubed Hallicrafters HAM set
in my bedroom. I miss dad for sure.

One of these days I am going to have to get a hobby that gets me off
my ass.

World carousing via the little Kaito radio excites me since I am not
in broadband land... (and I don't want to pay for two way dish). ..
I spend a lot of time in an RV.

AFter the fact I saw that the ka1102 goes down to 70FM hz? which
somebody said will likely pick up a few tv channels.

Actually.. making a good radio to pickup vhf and uhf channel seemed
long overdue. But if they are going to drop those broadcast bands in
2008 ...well... so much for that.

fwiw...I bought a cheapy analog 2-13 VHF from a Walmart wannabe and
that was a disaster. ..COBY brand. Dumb...$10...of course it had no
usable capability.

Thanks again.. I'll scout around now. I dug out my old FM Atlas from
Esko MN....

Now I need to dig out the Radio
Shack turnstile crossed dipole .. and get it up out here on the
northern plains. I thought I'd just stick if on come PCV mounted on
the side of the garage...good ground of course...and then run a
straight wire throught the trees...right? for AM and SW? I 'll read
up some more, I'll read up...

Thanks again...

I have to get back to cleaning out the attic and dump more of my
stereo stuff on EBAY. What a hit...looks like $4000 invested... value
now...maybe $800 if I am lucky.
