grin, I took up bicycling four years ago. Now I've got to figure out
a way to get a radio on the bikegrin...

AFter the fact I saw that the ka1102 goes down to 70FM hz? which
somebody said will likely pick up a few tv channels.

TV channels 2-6 fall in the 54-88MHz spectrum. If the Kaito goes down
to 70MHz it'll receive TV channels 4, 5, and 6. Again, until Congress
shuts them downgrin.

Now I need to dig out the Radio
Shack turnstile crossed dipole .. and get it up out here on the
northern plains. I thought I'd just stick if on come PCV mounted on
the side of the garage...good ground of course...and then run a
straight wire throught the trees...right? for AM and SW? I 'll read
up some more, I'll read up...

A turnstile is probably a FM antenna. Hook it to a decent FM receiver
(say, your old stereo tuner?) & do some FM DXing...

Yes, a straight wire -- as long as possible, as high in the air as
possible, as far from obstructions as possible -- is a good choice for
SW. Should work OK on AM too.
