So the Balun is about a foot away from the tower.

It seems to tune ok all readings are below 2.1 on center freq on phone bands
on 40 80 160.

Just wonder if it's hearting the transmitting.

It's fine. I don't think it is "hearting" the transmitter; or hurting
it either. :-)
