Default Interference From TV Sets

Many amateur radio operators have experienced "sync birdies' from TV sets
that interfere with ham band reception. I presently have interference from
the switching regulators in the older APC uninterruptible power supplies
common to many computer installations. I want to buy one of those newfangled
HDTV sets however I am concerned with interference that these high tech
receivers may generate. I suspect there would be minimal interference from
the LCD types but the plasma and projector types may present some problems.
Anyone have any experience in this area?
