I just bought my aging father a BC246T so that he would be able to listen

the city around him. I bought it for him for Christmas. My concern is

I want to send it to him with remarks of "Don't open till Christmas"

I am in the Navy and am scheduled to Deploy in 2 weeks. Now, I just spent
about 6 hours programming the scanner for Wichita KS. If the batteries
happen to die while in the box waiting, will the systems and groups be
deleted?? I say this because my POS Palm Pilot will delete all saved
material if the battery dies.

2.Synchronize the palm every now and then
