Since what "is" changes with human knowledge, most scientific people
avoid asserting absolutes. Quantum Electro Dynamics indicate that EM
fields do not even exist. Most of our present math models are probably
wrong/incomplete and will eventually be obsoleted. I'm sure Terman and
most other technical authors realized that fact of reality.
