FCC rules need to be changed
That needs to remain in place, Todd. It was put in force to prevent
amateurs from utilizing the ham bands for commercial purposes, and
to prevent the amateur service from unfairly competing with commercial
services. Without that rule, those providing such services would
have every right to file grievances with the FCC.
Also, without that rule, there would be more congestion on the ham
bands.
It really not the matter of removing th rule, the problem is that the
vast majority of things that amateurs can do can be done through
alternative radio service. As for the commercial service, the FCC and
congress is giving them a HUGE chunk of spectrum of what was the old TV
spectrum So I wouldn't really worry about them.
