Default Cable for Pro 95 drivers needed?

Radio Shack's Cat #20-289 cable does not require any drivers. It is a
serial cable, and requires that your computer have a DB9 Male RS232 serial
port. If your computer is older, most likely you will have at least one, of
not two of these ports. However, if you have a newer computer it may not
have any. Newer computers dropped legacy serial ports in favor of USB
ports. If all you have is USB ports, then you will also need a
USB-to-Serial adapter. Those adapters usually come with their own drivers.

Considering your computer is running Win98SE, it's very likely that it's old
enough to have at least one RS232 DB9 serial port.

It will have 9 pins.

You'll also want to download Don Starr's Win95 software for your scanner:

I am going to buy the Radio Shack cable #20-289 for the Pro 95 Scanner
today. Can anyone tell me if I will need drivers for Windows 98se for the
cable or will the computer simply recognize it? If I need the drivers,
can
anyone tell me if Radio Shack has the software or where I might be able to
download it? My local Radio Shack is privately owned and does not stock
the
cable so I am traveling about 50 miles to get it. The sales people at
that
RS are not really computer literate so I do not know if they will know the
answer to this question. Thanks for any help in advance.
