Default Amateur Radar

If you think of it, man is illuminating the earth with RF "photons"
continually. It should be possible to image all types of structures in
3D with the proper receivers.

Not to drag it off topic, but I'm confused about what looks like
ground shadows in Sandia's SAR images. For example, the tower shadow
in http://www.sandia.gov/radar/movies/solar.mov continually points
toward the "viewer". Is this reflected radiation from the tower off
the ground?? Really weird false lighting effect if that's what it is.
Also, ground shadows under trees in other images make them look like
false color satellite photos.

I think if you're going to do it, large synthetic apertures would be
most interesting.

I want to take high res mountain and city pictures with homebrew radar.
Some use passive radars and produce synthetic aperture radar images.
Passive radars use gsm , vhf , uhf , sw , fm , satellite transmitters .
But I am not sure about the quality of resulting image.
- Some italian researchers did it but I saw the images and I did not
like.-
If it will not not satisfy my need , I will want to build a transmitter
and receiver.
Do I need to use a gunnplexer ? Or is there any new transmitters at
market ?
What is your idea for building a sar ?
