$100 Radio ?
Hi,
I havent had a shortwave in probably 25 years, and am thinking about
getting another one. The one I had back in the day was a Rhapsody, one
of those larger tabletop models with the swivel "directional" antenna on
top of it. Probably $50 or so back in the early 1980's.
It did, as far as I know, a decent job. I enjoyed listening to the
propaganda from the old Soviet Union.
I see radios now ranging from $10 to whatever you care to spend. It
looks like most of the folks in here have high end radios, but Im
planning on staying under $100.00 as that should cover a radio that will
provide some "casual" listening. That, and funds are limited, and I do
like to have several interests covered and not all my money tied up in
one activity.
I do read reviews and such on the net, but I always prefer to hear
personal experiences from actual users.
About the only features Id require on a cheap radio is an external
antenna jack (I think many el-cheapos lack this), and a digital tuner,
as Ive always found sliderules to be inaccurate on most any kind of
radio.
Any recs or warnings?
Thanks,
Nathan
