Hello:
Will be banging in some sort of ground rod to ground an outdoor lighning
arrestor and Balun.
Saw the 5/8 O.D. Cu plated solid steel 8 foot long ones by ERICO at Home
Depot, and I imagine these are what most folks use.
But was wondering:
Might it be better to use, e.g., a 3/4" or 1" Cu pipe, the kind that houses
are plumbed with for their normal
water supply.
Would be more surface area on the outside, and you would also pick up some
area from the pipe's ID if it is dirt filled due
to the driving into the soil.
Thoughts on ?

Too soft to ''drive'' into normal earth. Will mushroom severely.
