I believe it has a 02A chip which is easily modified with a switch. Only
issue is the age of the rig and if any of the crystals have degraded.

It may have an 858 chip. Either way, those old chips expand easily.
I wouldn't expect it to be very broadband, but you'd be able to
cover all 40. But then you'd have a hacked radio, either way.
