Worked VK9CYL on 10M CW a couple days ago.
Have been listening for her for quite awhile, and occasionally
heard an ESP level signal. However on the 7th around 0100Z
the signal came up to S1 for 15 or 20 minutes. Hooray!
In the RTTY contest this weekend, I worked VK, ZL,
and FO (Tahiti) on ten--sure was a pleasant surprise!
Also worked Guam for the first time, in CQ WW SSB,
with my new antenna.
I just put up an off-balance dipole; the leg that runs
a bit south of due west is 160 feet (around 50 meters),
and I was hoping for a bit of directivity toward the
Pacific. It's a tough haul from the eastern coast of
the USA, with a barefoot transceiver and low wire
antennas. So far, I'm pleased with it. Now I need
to see if I can point it further north and finally
get China in the log! ;-)
