Dear Bob,
We all live and learn. WHENEVER I buy something I always try to
remember P. T. Barnum's sage comment!
In future, should you wish to import SW equipment into Canada, consider
buying from AES - http://www.aesham.com - a very reputable dealer
whom you can telephone toll-free and who will ship into Canada by
whatever means you desire, thereby minimizing your shipping costs.
Universal will also ship into Canada; however, I believe they will only
ship via UPS which, as you may know, causes some "problems" (and costs)
with shipment into Canada.
An English firm which ships to Canada at reasonable fees (and which
also has low prices) is THE SHORTWAVE SHOP.
Best of luck in the future and best of luck with your new Sony
ICF-SW7600GR.
Joe
Thanks Joe
I really don't need much of anything else now. I bought a Sony CFR 320 back in about
78 in Europe and did not use it much after I returned in 82. Anyway, I got listening
to it again this winter and it still works beautifully. My wife bought me a Grundig
350s to listen to in the kitchen and I just loved it's selectivity but the one I had
could not keep time, so I returned it and read a few posts about the 7600GR and
looked around for this one.
I kind of like the look of this Eton E1XM and may opt to buy one. I think that it
may be a little simpler to tool around the band with then the 7600GR. I like presets,
but so far I am finding the page system of the 7600GR just a little awkward. I know
that as I become more familiar with it things will get easier.
Well OK better run!
Take care.
