I was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Paul Flaherty, N9FZX, of a
heart attack. He was only 42.
Paul was a early, and long-time, participant on the newsgroups,
including rec.radio.amateur.*. I participated in a discussion thread
with him on ba.broadcast just a few months ago.
A PhD graduate in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, Paul
was a past president of the Stanford University Amateur Radio Club
(W6YX).
Paul was best known as a co-creator of AltaVista, one of the earliest
web search engines, while at the Digital Corporation.
At the time of his death, he was Product/Strategy Vice President at Talk
Plus.
