Default SWL in a downtown apartment...(curses!)

Living in the very center of Downtown Reno, with it's endless casinos
and neon lights and other obnoxious RF mutilators, has done a beautiful
job of wrecking my shortwave reception. The current solar situation is
certianly not helping any either. That being said, is there an antenna
that is sheilded or a loop antenna that i could build? My apartment is
a studio and there is no roon for an outdoor antenna(which would pick
up more noise anyway). I have an ANLP-1 active loop as well, which
reduces the noise a little bit...but still not enough to enjoy
listening.

Did they convert the Sundowner into condos or something? Or do you live
in the Riverside? Either way, best thing to do would be to move to the
suburbs. I agree with Ace and David here. Check the Gazette Journal,
there's plenty of cheap apartments in the suburbs. If you're locked in
to a long term lease, get a book on Nevada landlord/tenant law and try
to find a loophole that will allow you to get out of your lease. If you
can't move, get a Wellbrook active antenna, it's the best one out there.
Pricey, and it's only available from vendors in the UK (which means
paying in pounds), but it may be your best hope. But I doubt that even
the best active antenna will do much. You'll ultimately have to move.
