Default Palomar 150 Tube Molile Amp

Hello David and all:

David your e-mail bounced!

The reason the old 30 amp Generator was replaced was the new fangled
Alternators where hitting the market, that had twice or even more
current capability. And in order to charge the Battery the engine had to
have more RPM's than just a idle. Where the Alternator would charge the
Battery when the engine was just idling, and again had twice the current.

I guess Ford Motor Company didn't think the Ford Pick Up Trucks needed a
Alternator. Remember this was a 1964 Custom Cab F100, and didn't have a
lot of fancy devices that took a lot of current. The old 30 Amp
Generator had to run the engine, charge the battery, running lights and
a old Tube Radio, and windshield wipers if it rained, so not a lot of
stuff running off the generator.

But the new installed Alternator did have a higher voltage allowing the
Palomar 150 Tube Linear Amplifier to run even better with probably
around 14 volts to it. The Transistorized switching power supply did
make a whining noise. And it got louder with the new alternator.

In dear ol Dads truck ran a old Pace II-S a 12 channel radio, driving
the Palomar 150 amp. Into a M125 Antenna, and yeah it got out pretty well.

Now theres guys out there with 200 and 300 amp alternators running
transistorized and Tube amps. I never get tried of viewing all the
hardware at the Breaks and Shootouts.

But all new vehicles come with a Alternator now I believe.
