I had excellent results using copper alarm tape from Rat Shack to use
as an antenna. Even soldering wire to it (not while it's on the
window!) turned out to be pretty easy. Put the tape along the edge of
a window but not up against the frame itself -- if you have window
shades, the top of the window may be your best bet.
