Default what's up with eham?

Eham has been a valuable resource for hams. With the high cost of running a

Good Riddance to eHam.
An unsuspecting ham posted the following on an email reflector.

Folks,

I wrote a short piece about the 'K2 versus all them big new rigs'

several weeks ago, but I guess it isn't going to make it where anyone

can read it on the front page or subsequent pages on eHam.

Perhaps sites that depend on advertising revenue don't like ruffled

vendor feathers? :-)

In any event, you can view and comment on it he

AB7RG of Eham took affront, and posted the following:

Actually, it was this comment, "Perhaps sites that

depend on advertising revenue don't like ruffled

vendor feathers?" -- that is what really did it.

Especially when:

Look seven down, that says it all...

Next time get your facts straight first, Jeff. Then

if you have a question or concern e-mail me privately

and I will be more than happy to let you know

approximately if/when your article will be posted on

eHam's homepage. Like I said, I can only run so many

at a time, and we receive TONS of submissions. And I

would have glady ran yours in just a few more days if

you had just been patient.

Bottom line: You show me some common courtesy and a

little respect and I will happily return it.

Now that would not be so bad, although he also removed the mentioned article
from eHam in a fit of pique, and engaged in a bit of email harassment.

Folks,

There is nothing spooky or scary going on here.

I submitted an article on July 12 for publication on eHam. If you know

anything about that process it takes time and you also get an

auto-generated response telling you that your article "may" or "may not"

be selected for front page publication.

Given that it has been three weeks, and that other, more recent articles

have been published I just *assumed* that mine was not selected for

publication. They receive a lot of submissions and that wouldn't have

been unusual. So this morning, I sent the link to this list so that even

though the story didn't make the front page, other Elecrafter's could

read it. In my posting, I included the URL and this one comment:

"Perhaps sites that depend on advertising revenue don't like ruffled

vendor feathers? :-)"

I thought that the little smiley guy :-) conveyed that I was joking and

I wasn't actually implying that eHam was doing anything devious in

choosing not to publish the article.

However, the Articles Manager had a much different take on the matter

and proceeded to send me several emails that asked for my "respect" and

my "courtesy" or that article would be pulled. I told him deleting the

article would be fine with me and he has done that. There were several

other messages between us where he sent me the dictionary definition of

the word "libel" and such, and ended it all by saying that I was banned

from posting articles on eHam until I learn to be more courteous, and

that he was deleting any follow-up messages from me, etc.

Obviously I'm not thrilled by all this, and his public posting to this

list was an obvious attempt to "set me straight" in front of a public

audience. I wouldn't have replied at all but I started receiving emails

from this list asking why the link on eHam couldn't be reached and what

all this was about.

I would REALLY appreciate if this could end now. I have always hated OT

posts and long, meandering threads that have no value, and this one

certainly has none at this point.

I apologize to the list for the messages it has already spawned, and

hope that you will take my plea to heart and NOT FOLLOW THIS UP.

Thanks and see you all on the bands!

I also emailed AB7RG, and received a nasty email telling me I 'was not very
smart' and reminding me of how he had to “throw me off” the Argonaut V
reflector. He certainly did. I DARED to suggest that the ArgoV was not up to the
performance of the Elecraft K2.

Then, he “modified” my profile on Eham.net, adding “and making trouble on
eham.net” to my hobbies. When I saw this, I added under “Things I want to do”
that one would NOT be contributing to eHam, when they dared to modify my
profile. Now I see my profile has been totally deleted, and my email address
changed to ,” to insure I can not re-enter it.

UPDATE

Now the arrogant, childish a**hole has fixed it so I can't edit my “Profile”
nor can I post on any of the Forums. It is really sad that he has to do this to
feel like a “big shot.” I guess his “significant other” must have laughed at the
size of his......antenna.
