How about a more fair comparison: The KLH Model 21.
What a flashback! My first 'hi-fi' radio.
Got turned on to it back when I had a Singer record player and learned
that KLH was the manufacturer who also had several other items in their
line of compact audio equipment.
Well, the Tivoli Model One should have been a real flashback, modeled
to look like a 2/3 scale Model 21 -- the driver is only a fraction of
an inch smaller in diameter, but the Model 21 has a real acoustic
suspension speaker and (gasp!) high-fidelity from *transistors!*
My point, of course, is while the Tivoli is a fine radio, it's more a
modern reprise on Kloss' idea of a low-cost, high fidelity radio for
anywhere in the house.
Unfortunately, I've read some rumblings about its durability -- we'll
see how mine is performing in 2045.
