Given the proliferation of mail order ham radio stores and their
competitive pricing, and the fact that few Radio Shack employees can
meet the "you got questions, we got answers" brag in regard to ham
radio, I wouldn't be surprised if RS gave it up.

On the other hand, maybe they're simply cleaning out stock for the
publication of their next catalog...

The story given by emplyees here is that they have dropped all HAM
band equipment and have no plans to get any more. Most of it was
relabeled Japanese gear anyway, so why not go to HRO or one of the
other mail order shops for it. I actually buy most of my equipment at
hamfests. With six per year within an hour's drive, I get quite a good
selection. I hang on to business cards from the displays in case I
need something in between. It helps to keep the better dealers
interested in the 'fests.
