Yeah, that's right. I was on an extended assignment doing a long
consulting gig for UPS in the mid-90s. UPS is the nation's fourth
largest airline, in terms of number of aircraft. Once everything is
flown in and sorted, it goes out of Louisville in an incredible event
known as the 'Midnight Flight' or some such thing, wherein in the middle
of the night, plane after plane takes off for its destination. It is a
sight to behold. You stand there on the tarmac and you watch endless
takeoffs that go on for *hours*. Endlessly. In the middle of the night.
It is surreal.


It is a copy-cat of FedEx who has been doing that from Memphis for
several decades.
