Default Yaesu, Dumb Question

I am sure you guys have solved the problem. I will talk with Bill
later today. This "feature" has just about driven him off his recent
return to Ham Radio!

While we have found the experience a bit humbling, I do think they
could have done better job with the manual. A search on "wires" of
the PDF manual got me on the right pages.

Thanks to all!

I have a friend who has a Yaesu FT-8800R transceiver That transmits a

I had the same thing. I can't remember what the function was called but it
took me a few hours to find out what it was trough experimentation.

Press the right hand volume control down briefly disables it.

I really hate the controls for this radio. They add stupid functions like
this to the front panel but leave important things like memory skip deep
in the menus.

This is probably the Yaesu WIRES (internet-connection) feature. It's
enabled by pressing the lefthand VOL knob briefly. When enabled, the
text INT ON appears in the display for a couple of seconds, an "int"
icon appears in the display (memory-channel field of the subband part
of the display), and a DTMF tone is sent at the beginning of each
transmission.

To disable it, press the lefthand VOL knob again, and confirm that the
"int" icon disappears from the display.
