Default Thoughts for a Slow Day

Only problem is...
How many MILLIONS of people want a computer?
How many THOUSANDS want radios?

Not much incentive to do it...

The Computer industry got it right the first time.

They provide a ( universal ) case,
plug-replaceable power supply,
and plug-in circuit cards for features.
You can lash together a working system from "the junk bin".

Suppose the Radio industry followed suit;

You could buy the case of your choice ( portable or desk-size )
A case insert for controls, frequency display.
A wall-wart would probably be a suitable power supply.
A plug in card for the audio quality of your choice,
a plug-in for the rf section of your choice.

Configure the radio with the features you need,
using ( standardized ) plug-in components.

Seems like manufacturers and consumers would win out.
