Default CW?.....semaphore, lets fight for that..I love my flags. I also have 2 cans and a string

I passed my 5 wpm code back in the 60's and later 13 and finally a few years
back 20 wpm but I side along with those who don't see code as needed for an
amateur radio license requirement.

Use of CW in the ham bands has diminished significantly over the years. The
NTS Traffic nets and contests still hang on to the mode but general use on a
weekday outside of a net or for some dxers is very sparse. I seldom use it
myself.

Why test for one mode of operation when there are many other modes that can
be used and these are not necessarily tested in the license exams? To single
out CW as a must test mode of operation seems silly in this age.

60 years ago when CW was as popular as AM (No SSB in common use yet) I can
see the test requirement, here in the 21st century no.

I know what you mean, Bruce. I find the debate/rift downright laughable
myself. When I got my amateur license back in the early 1970's, I
actually found the code to be easier to learn than the theory part of
it all. I guess not everyone's brain works the same...who knows.
Have a good one!
