Drake used an RF notch filter in the R7/A and if I recall also in some if not
all of their earlier amateur receivers.

Unfortunately they did not incorporate it into the R8 series of receivers.

In my opinion, RF notching is the preferred way to go, as it helps to eliminate
the offending signal from affecting the AGC adversely.

DL's notch filter is designed to simulate fading. I will admit that I
hadn't even
considered trying to add one to my setup. I was only thinking of trying
to do
some tests to see how well my various detectors would cope with fading.
