Default BC780 puts 996/2096 to shame...

Well my old trusty BC9000XLT is still by far my favorite scanner,
conventional, analog and all.
Has better rx and audio than the 780, however the 780 is one of the best
trunk trackers I've ever owned, and that's why I still have it. Although
after the rebanding it will be a conventional scanner again.
I have a Pro96, and other APCO25, I don't like it at all. For the money its
missing a lot of options that my old BC9000 already has, and its 10yrs old.

Radios aren't jealous like women . . . it's perfectly OK to have more than
one.

Hell, I still use my Pro-2006 for mil air because it is even better than
the 780 I used to have, as far as sensitivity is concerned.

I can't speak for the relatively new 996, but the Pro-2096 is a fine
scanner. With all the crap they have to cram into one unit these days, I
don't think it's reasonable to expect a perfect all-in-one analogue and
digital solution . . . at an affordable price at least.

....and that bums me out cuz my local PD has gone digital and to upgrade I
have to buy a radio that has inferior performance.

I hope whatever comes out next from GRE/Uniden will be comparable to the
780 with digital reception.
