A guy in France (Nicolas Joseph Cugnot in 1769) invented a steam powered
three wheel vehicle.One night he fired it up (it would only go at less
than a walking speed) and the vehicle bumped into the side of a
building.It had a big copper boiler up front and a sort of a ratchet cog
front wheel drive system.Actually,a guy in Italy invented a spring wound
vehicle,but it never went anywhere.Benz was a ''Johonny come lately''.
