I called Kenwood and explained that since this is a known problem with the
TM-V7A I would expect a little help with the repair. They told me to send
it in and they would fix it for free. It was three years after the warranty
expired. I was told by the person who answered the phone that this is a
know issue and Kenwood would repair it for free if I sent the head unit in
with the serial number. I sent it in on Wednesday and received it the
following Wednesday. All things considered I thought that was outstanding.
I was out only shipping one way. I hope it will work out as well in your
situation.

I am posting on behalf of a friend, KB9JRZ. He has a Kenwood TM-V7A.
The dual-band mobile they came out with that has the blue screen. His
screen has progressively gotten worse to the point of not being able to
read
the freq anymore. What checking he has done with retail stores says they
can not get one. Surely somewhere a new face/display can be found right?
Any help will be appreciated, you can respond here or to my e-mail, less
the
NOSPAM of course.
Thanks, KB9LTJ
