I was at our local Pro Hardware store the other day and espied a new
item: an LED flashlight. Now that the hoots and jeers have subsided,
this was an entirely new device with the potential to destroy the
western world as we know it. This innocent-looking device used a new
method to generate the electricity to run the powerful LED . A strong
round magnet runs up and down a cylinder as the flashlight is shaken.
The magnet passes through a coil wound around the plastic tube and,
using the motor priciple, (a wire in a varying magnetic field generates
electricity) sends its AC voltage to a neat little rectifier and button
cell battery. The flashlight differs from its cranky brethren in three
ways. It is easy to run with only a few shakes necessary, its button
batteries are very efficient and hold their charge for a long time, and
the LED is quite powerful. It is about 7 inches long and 1 1/2
diameter. " Just the thing! I said to myself. I can use it at night in
bed when I want to find one of the 20 mini pushbuttons on the DX-394 I
use at bedside. This will avoid waking the household, who will
immediately ask for money, and the dog, who will want to be let out."
However, there is a dark side to all this. The flashlight is made of
clear plastic to show the insides, and disassembles easily with its
threaded parts. It lies there and cries, "Take me apart..I dare you.
See how I work." Booby traps all through history have appeared
harmless. It disassembles easily with its cylindrical magnet dropping
out of its tube and falling on your foot. It is quite heavy for its
size and seems to be made of very good magnet stuff. It was good fun
figuring out the principle and circuits and was well worth the C$6.99
it cost. Now comes the bad part.. As I set it down on my desk, six
paper clips and a pair of scissors jumped over to the flashlight. "
Holy Cow, ' I said, "This sucker is really strong." Put it near a
credit card. digital implant, watch, and driver's license and you are a
non-person. If enough people put this flashlight in a pocket near
their credit cards and wiped out their digital data, the economy of the
United States could come crashing down. Apart from that littledetail,
the flashlight works well and is highly recomended as a shortwave
listeners nightime acessory.

What about the economy of Canuckystan? Don't you ever think of CanaDuh or even
mention it? You DO live there, don't you, 'tard boy? Why is it you dumb****s are
always fixated on the USA?

Curious.

Because your ilk enjoys destroying the world. Where are those WMDs? What
is the terrorist connection between 9/11 and Iraq? Oh wait! There is no
WMDs or connection!
