Well, it isn't so.

I signed up for an (ugh) Google Groups account to see what would
happen. You know what? People reading newsgroups to which they've
subscribed see only the subject of the post which started the thread.

Your efforts make no difference at all to GG subscribers and are
therefore pointless.

And of course the smart people who don't use Google Groups aren't
affected either by your OC efforts.
