the answer is that it looks like an attempt by the Current Occupant to
remove safeguards.
And it's not just Democrats:

It seems like the word "Patriot" gets attached to all sorts of things
in an attempt to avoid criticism or scrutiny.
...just like each and every radio amateur is "being a 'service' to
their
country"? :-)
