There's certification for commercially produced ham gear, but that's a
totally different process from type acceptance, and it looks for
totally different things. Calling certified gear "type accepted" is
like calling a ham a CBer - using the wrong term (which seems to be
common practice in English for a couple of decades now)

Also, if you sell an amplifier as a business, it can't operate the 12 or
10 meter band. However, it can be modified to operate it

But not by something as simple as cutting a prominent wire that's
labeled "don't cut this wire". By changing capacitors and inductors,
