This is my only concern:

These are the questions being raised by Mr. Mustapa:
a.) Can you use a linear amplifier on transmit or receive or both?
b.) Can someone help [me] on the software (ADMS-2H) for "programming"
the Yaesu FT-8900R?

These are not the questions of an experienced ham or of someone in the
process of learning technology so as to become a new ham. I have been an
Elmer for 30 years and have never heard thoughts like these being voiced. In
private emails Mr. Mustapa sent to me--to which I did not reply--he thinks
that my concern is about technical questions and conversations being carried
on by someone who is not a ham. This is absolutely not the case. Before any
of us was a ham we learned from someone, probably a ham. That's part of the
purpose, I hope, of this newsgroup. On that we can all agree.

No, my concern is that if questions like these are being asked by a non-ham,
what is his purpose in learning answers to technical questions like these.

I am afraid. I am very afraid.

I have been so ever since 9/11/2001, the date the World Trade Center was
destroyed in New York City.

These questions sound to me exactly like those that would be asked by
someone in Al Qaeda who is trying to develop just enough communications
expertise to learn to use amateur radio equipment like linear amplifiers and
new VHF/UHF transceivers like the Yaesu FT-8900R. With radios like the
beautiful, easy-to-get Yaesu FT-8900R, Al Qaeda can build a complete,
clandestine, world-wide communications system by using our small
transceivers to communicate with each other through our amateur radio
satellites.

Is it paranoid to be this concerned as I am? If the pilot training schools
had refused to train the pilot-trainees who learned just enough to fly the
big Boeings into the World Trade Center, they just might have never learned
how to do it. If we refuse to offer assistance, information, or programming
help to someone who admits that he is not a ham and does not intend to
become one, we just might prevent one person or more from setting up a new
Al Qaeda communications network and becoming the Al Qaeda Director of
World-wide Communications.

Afraid? You bet I'm afraid. I hope you are also.

I have no idea what Mr. Mustapa's intentions are. I do not even know which
continent he lives on. I accuse him of nothing. If his real intentions are
to learn CW at 5 WPM plus theory and regulations for a General-class
licensee, I would be very glad to help him myself in any way I can. But from
the tone of the questions asked, I am certain that I will never help to
answer those questions. I urge all other hams to follow this lead and not
share your technical expertise with people who bring great attention to
themselves by the very strangeness of the questions they ask. Ask yourself
whether the country might be harmed by helping people who ask questions like
these. Your answer at a minimum must be yes and a realization that there is
at least a real possibility that if you help people asking strange
questions, our country could be rendered less safe. And there is a real
possibility that if you help someone who asks questions like these, you
could be aiding in the future murder of thousands more people. We just don't
know.

Thank you for reading my response. I do not attend to write even one more. I
have said enough. May heaven bless you all, and may its protection extend
over all of the United States of America.

p.s. So how about it, Mr. Mustapa? Will you also post the real address of
where you live? Will you also post your telephone number?
