Default TONIGHT on WGN Radio 720 KHz - Khrushchev And The Cold War

On The Voice of Chicago - WGN Radio AM 720 KHz

At 9 PM CDT Friday October 27th (0200 UTC Saturday Oct. 28th)

KHRUSHCHEV AND THE COLD WAR

At the height of the Cold War, Nikita Khrushchev baited the United States
and other capitalist nations with these words: “Whether you like it or not,
history is on our side. We will bury you.” With such polemics, he projected
an image of Soviet solidarity and strength. However, behind the scenes,
Khrushchev’s position within the Communist party was much more tenuous.
Tonight, we will discuss Nikita Khrushchev’s relationships with not only the
United States, but also with the other top members of the Soviet regime with
ART CYR, professor of political science at Carthage College and an expert in
international relations during the Cold War, and TIMOTHY NAFTALI, the
newly-appointed director of the Nixon Presidential Library and co-author of
the new book Khrushchev's Cold War: The Inside Story of an American
Adversary.

Yesterday night's show:

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26TH
INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS IN EDUCATION
The American university used to be a bastion of intellectual curiosity and
individual exploration—a place where students and faculty alike could engage
in the free exchange of ideas. However, on many university campuses, free
speech and individual liberty has been restricted due to increasingly
strident assertions of political and social agendas. Tonight, we will detail
some of the most egregious examples of on-campus restrictions with GREG
LUKIANOFF, president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education
http://www.thefire.org/ , who will also explain what students, faculty,
parents and alumni can do to preserve free speech in academia.
