My Passport 2007 arrived in twelve days, dropped from the Boeing from
30,000 feet as it's severely mangled condition attested to.
They have a comprehensive three page review of my Redsun RP2100, most of
which I agree with.

Here are some of the things they say with my comments:

I haven't experienced that as the MW stations around here are not too
strong.

band"
I have not experienced this and the nightime signals on the six meg band
are pretty fearsome around here. Even when the radio is connected to the
main antenna and the signals are really strong I have not experienced
this.

"Slightly annoying chuffing when using the tuning knob"
It really is very slight - not an issue to me after my lousy Sangean 818.

"Tuning knob wobbles and volume control has minor play"
Mine are as firm as a maidens breast and finely engineered.
No play or wobbles in mine at all.

eBay seller "tqchina" packed well and it arrived quickly.
My experience with this seller as well = excellent.

"Crave better front end selectivity and dynamic range & overloading
disrupts reception"
The nightime six and seven meg signals from the local SW transmitters are
really powerful, but even when I connect the radio to my very powerful DX
1 Pro antenna I got no overloading or dynamic range problems at all.

"FM reception is a delight"
Yes, a strong point of this radio, especially if you are trying to get a
far distant FM station that is out of range to ordinary portables - it's
reception on FM is really quite awesome.

They don't mention the excellent AM BCB band reception which I find the
best of any portable radio I have ever owned, including my GE SRIII.
Regularly picks up clearly DX from MW stations 4/5000 miles away = quite
amazing in a portable.

They conclude:
"Yet for supremely pleasant listening to major world band stations it's
right up there among the very best."
They rate it two and three quarter stars.

I can only think that they tested a much earlier model than mine, and that
the manufacturer has improved on the factors complained about by Passport
in later production models.

I remain supremely happy with my Redsun RP2100 and like them, also find
the lack of keypad entry a major flaw which may account for it's
relatively low rating, plus of course the other problems they experienced,
which I have not.

Passport is a good read and well worth the twenty bucks.

I'm glad your pleased with your radio, I dont really take much notice of
these reviews myself to be honest, what one person likes another may not,
thats how I look at it.
I've got an old Sony 7600D and use it far more often than both my Sony sw77
and NRD-545
