+++ steel rusts? Wouldn't brass oxidize in a salt environment? Besides what

+++Stainless is usually adequate for one antenna lifetime here in Ohio. Dunno

Next to the coast here in Florida, I have seen SS start rusting in
less than a year. Also, I used to own a boat and after a year or two,
every piece of SS on the boat was replaced with chrome plated brass.
