I prefer chrome plated brass for marine and salt environment over
stainless steel. With enough exposure and time, SS will rust. Brass
never rusts. james

Cheers James, but where am I missing something when you say stainless steel
rusts? Wouldn't brass oxidize in a salt environment? Besides what I am reffering
to is the nuts/bolts holding the kit together. An observant operator will inspect
his kit yearly and make adjustments accordingly.

Howdy Jim,

Yes SS does rust, but at a far lower rate than regular steel. Brass might
oxidize a little, but will never corrode under salt air environments.

Hey Shark, my point was that stainless when used and inspected accordingly would
perform just as well as brass at a lower cost. Should have said that originally.
Its actually a silly point as we are talking nickels and dimes.

Affirmative. Nickels & dimes add up, you can send me all the ones you
don't want
