Default GE Superadio III vs. Grundig S350

I just purchased the Radio Shack model that Rich included the link for,
but unfortunately, this is the first radio that I've bought to try and
pull in distant AM stations.

Are there any kind of performance tests that I can do to check the
quality of this radio? Like I said, I haven't used any of the other
popular models in order to make a comparison.

In the full _daytime_, look for a station on every frequency. (no problem at
night, there are thousands.) Daytime absorption is what limits what you can
hear, and the better the radio, the more it can pull up out of the noise it
generates itself (ie. the less noise it generates itself).

Alternatively, and actually more interesting : get a MW loop (select-a-tenna or
terk loop, or radio shack loop if you can find one) and see if the radio improves
in the daytime.

Most will improve a lot ; a good radio improves only a tiny bit.

You need the loop anyway, so it's not wasted by any means.
