Floating museum INTREPID still serves today
The A/C carrier Intrepid could not be towed from its berth in NYC
because of mud fouling the props. The Navy will step in and get it to
deeper water so it can go into drydock for a 2-year refurb.
In one of the stories was this:
It now serves as a memorial to the armed services, a tourist attraction
that draws hundreds of thousands of people a year. It is also equipped
to become an emergency operation center for city and federal
authorities. The FBI used it as an operation center after the 2001
terrorist attacks."
Nice to know its still serving.
