I've said some not-so-nice things about RF Systems products over the
years. However, I spent much of this past weekend trying out their MTA
antenna and it turned out to be a lot more fun than I anticipated. So
far as I can tell, reports that this antenna delivers an excellent S/N
ratio are not exaggerated. It can't perform miracles and it's not the
equal of a longwire in quiet conditions, but for someone in a noisy
environment it picks up less electrical noise than any other antenna
I've ever used (including the Wellbrook)--and by quite a wide margin. I
was very surprised. And it's a passive antenna, a big plus all by
itself.

Hi Steve,, I have one of these to. I did have a 70' longwire
or random wire whichever suits your fancy. But I always had an
S2 to S3 or more noise level on it no matter what I did. Put a grounded
Balun ( aka matching transformer) but to no avail, I gave up trying to
pull in anything weak,, just couldnt hear it for the noise. I bought
one of the MTA's and put it up, I put a self tapping screw on the
mast connection points to bond them together all the way to the grd.
and then drove a grd. rod in and bolted it to the mast. NO noise.
None. I started hearing things I didnt even know was there. Its
been up for 5 yrs now and still going strong. It may not have the
signal strength that other antennas have but then again its all about
the S/N ratio isnt it.
