Yes, I actually own one. No, I wouldn't spend $500 on a Sony 2010, even if
it was in mint condition. Other than notch filters, pass band tuning, and
finer that 100Khz resolution, it's weak signal sensitivity even on SSB is
equal to that of desktop receivers. Have I ever owned a desktop? I think an
Icom R71A, Kenwood R5000, and Drake R8 would qualify...

The Sony 2010 is NOT overated! I've picked up weak SSB signals from all
over the world (Australia, USSR) from my location in Ohio. All this with
a piece of wire clipped to the whip antenna. Every bit as good as the
desktops...
